The AS9100 Readiness Checklist
The gaps that pass internal review and fail the audit.
Audit findings rarely come from a missing binder. They come from the space between what the quality manual says and what the floor actually does. This checklist walks through the questions our consultants ask aerospace suppliers before an auditor gets the chance.
Work through it with the people who run the floor. The value is not in the boxes you check. It is in the items you cannot confidently check.

Six areas an auditor will test
- Leadership and Ownership. Whether leadership knows what AS9100 asks of them, and whether one person owns the work with real hours behind it.
- Right-Sized Documentation. Procedures that match the process running on the floor, with work instructions where the risk lives.
- Process Control and Quality at the Source. Controls that hold up in practice and corrective actions that close the root cause, not just the paperwork.
- Supply Chain. Requirements that flow down to suppliers and evidence that flows back.
- Integration and Sustainment. A quality system that keeps running in busy weeks, without an auditor in the room.
- The Aerospace-Specific Requirements. Configuration control, counterfeit parts prevention, product safety, FOD, first article inspection and risk.
Who it’s for:
Quality managers, plant leaders and owners at aerospace and defense suppliers pursuing AS9100 or preparing for recertification. It doesn’t replace a formal gap assessment. It tells you where to point one.
